Redhill Admissions 1856

Redhill Admissions 1856

Until about the middle of the year, courts were still sending juvenile offenders to the county gaols or houses of correction for long periods. However, gradually the prison authorities started transferring these boys to Reformatories and before long, the courts were passing sentences of short gaol terms followed by several years at a Reformatory, in some cases specifying Redhill or the Philanthropic Society.
