Thomas Rust (15) charged with stealing 14 handkerchiefs, value £2, of Henry Augustus Moore, and others. Thomas Durdant Pead: I am a Silk Mercer in Friday Street; I have partners. On 31st July, about half past 12 o’clock, I saw the prisoner run out of my door—I followed him, and took him—I brought him back into the warehouse, and found on him 40 handkerchiefs—he tried to put them back on the pile, and they fell on the floor—I took them up, they were worth £2 12s.—these are them. George Webb (City policeman, 438): The prisoner and these handkerchiefs were delivered into my charge.

[There was no record of either Dawe or Keel (Cooper) at the School]

44. 21.12.1858 Andrews James 1845 Emigrated to Sydney per “Corriemulzie”, birth given as March. Convicted at Old Bailey 20.9.1858 of Larcency. Convicted September, judgement suspended 22.11.1858. Sentence 1 month’s imprisonment & 2 years in a Reformatory. James Andrews (12), Stealing 2 half-sovereigns and 2 florins, of William Cooper; to which he pleaded guilty .— Judgment Respited. Arrived at Sydney 28.5.1861 by “Corriemutzie”

Sentence: 2 Months’ imprisonment at Newgate & 3 years at a Reformatory. George Lawrence (14) charged with stealing 2 pints of wine, value 6s., and 2 bottles, value 2d., of Charles Dingwall and others; to which he pleaded guilty. City policeman 520, stated that he had been 8 times summarily convicted.
48. 25.12.1858 Staples Richard 1844 Emigrated to Adelaide by “Ashburton”, birth given as July. Convicted at Old Bailey 22.11.1858 of Larcency. Judgement suspended 13.12 1858. Sentence: 14 days hard labour & 3 years in a Reformatory. Richard Staples charged with stealing, at Deptford, 12s. 6d. in money, the property of Ann Staples; to which he pleaded guilty. The prosecutrix, who is the prisoner's aunt, stated that he had robbed her on a former occasion. Judgment respited.
49. 31.12.1858 Williamson Edward 12.7.1843 Emigrated to Otago, New Zealand by ship “Derwenter”. “Derwentwater” arrived Wellington 15.2.1860
